Üçge Marks APRCE 2013

The 16th Asia Pacific Retailers Convention and Exhibition (APRCE) was held in Istanbul between 23rd and 25th of September. Thousands of visitors from 33 countries attended APRCE, which started with the opening speech delivered by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Üçge marked this event with 2 different stands and its activities.

APRCE is in Turkey for the first time
Organized by FAPRA (Federation of Asia-pacific Retailers Associations) where AMPD (Trade Council of Shopping Centers and Retailers) has been a member since 2000, the biggest event of the region, APRCE was realized in Beijing in 2005, in Tokyo in 2007, Seoul in 2009 and in Singapore in 2011 and afterwards, for the first time, in 2013, it was organized in Turkey, a country outside the Asia – Pasific basin.

FAPRA Awards Were Delivered
The event was held at Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Center between 23rd and 25th of September and started with the attendance of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey. In the award ceremony organized at the end of the first day of the event, FAPRA awards were delivered. FAPRA awards were delivered in the following categories: Most Innovative Retail Concept Award, Green Retailer Award, Best Effort in Retail Employee Training and Customer Service Excellence Award. The awards were presented by FAPRA Chairman Dato’Dr.Jannie Chan, FAPRA Secretary General Prof. Xiaoning Cao, TAMPF Chairman Vahap Küçük and AMPD Chairman Mehmet T. Nane. 12 successful international companies were awarded in the ceremony in categories and Migros Ticaret A.Ş. received the Customer Service Excellence Award. FAPRA award ceremony was opened with a rhythm show and was closed with a whirl show.

The Future of Retail Industry Was Discussed
Throughout the 16th APRCE, in the sessions held for 3 days, the future of retail industry was discussed. In addition to these sessions during which the concepts of “The New World”, “The New Retail” and “The New Consumer” were discussed, the sessions about “Sustainability”, ”Design and Concept” and “Technology and Social Media” also received attention.

Minister Çağlayan Visited Üçge Stand
Throughout the APRCE 2013 events, aside from the sessions at the convention center, the participants also had the opportunity to meet and do their networking with various companies and non-governmental organizations with the stands installed on the convention area. Üçge had the opportunity to brief its visitors at two different stands at the convention and exhibition center about its past and future activities for the international retail industry and spent enjoyable times with visitors. With the puzzles named “Mind Games” distributed to visitors at Üçge stands, Üçge gave the message of “reach us for solution” to its visitors. Also visited by the Minister of Economy Zafer Çağlayan, Üçge stands were the focus of attention throughout the events at APRCE 2013.

Exhibition Center Was Vivified with the Works of Üçge Cartoon Contest
“Üçge 2nd International Cartoon Exhibition” where Üçge combines the amusing aspects of retail with cartoon art was showcased at APRCE Fair area. The works selected from the contest where 289 cartoon artists from 52 countries participated with 707 works based on the theme of "Shopping Is Life" made the APRCE participants from all around the world and the visitors smile.

To Be Organized in the Philippines for the Next Time
On the final day of APRCE 2013, in the gala dinner at the end of sessions, Mehmet T. Nane took over the title of Chairman of FAPRA with a ceremony. APRCE, held biennially, will be organized in the Philippines for the next time, which will be in 2015. The representatives from the Philippines, who took part in the APRCE 2013 with a stand expressed that 2015 is important for them since it is the first year of “Asian Economic Integration”. The Asian Economic Integration aims at creating a common market by removing the boundaries in Southeastern Asia.
